1 2 8L-9241 O-Ring Seal Lubricate the shaft lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed
2 2 4D-5738 Shim Pack To obtain the bearing preload with vertical or horizontal assembly of parts:
Install the retainer with four bolts equally spaced and tighten to 140 N m (103 lb ft).
Rotate the wheel two complete revolutions.
Tighten the bolts to 140 N m (103 lb ft) and rotate the wheel two more revolutions.
Loosen all bolts 120 Degrees.
Rotate the wheel two revolutions and then tighten to 70 5 N m (50 3.6 lb ft).
Rotate the wheel two revolutions and then retighten to 70 5 N m (50 3.6 lb ft).
Rotate the wheel two revolutions and again retighten to 70 5 N m (50 3.6 lb ft).
Measure the gap between the retainer and the axle housing at two opposite holes through the plate. Average the gap readings. Add 0.23 + 0.00 - 0.05 mm (0.0091 + 0.00 - 0.0019 inch) to the average gap reading and install a shim pack equal to this size.
Total shim pack thickness is 2.9 mm (0.114 inch)
Shim pack contains:
One shim 0.81 mm (0.0319 inch)
Six shims 0.05 mm (0.0019 inch)
Seven shims 0.25 mm (0.0098 inch)
3 20 0S-1625 Bolt Apply Loctite 243 to the threads after bearing adjustment.
Tighten bolts to 22 6 N m (195 53 lb in) (If the bolts do not run all the way down at this value, the bolts should be discarded).
Tighten bolts to 125 20 N m (92 15 lb ft).
Tighten bolts to 250 15 N m (185 11 lb ft).
