Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
Remove plug (30), spring (28), and bushing control (27). Remove spool assembly (26) from end cover (20). Remove the O-ring seal from plug (30) .
Remove plug (35), screw (32), and shuttle (31). Remove screw (29) from the end cover. Remove the O-ring seal from plug (35) .
Remove two plugs (36), two screws (34), pin (33), shuttle (31), and two screws (29) from the end cover. Remove the O-ring seals from plugs (36) .

Note: For assembly purposes, measure the distance from the end of adjustment screw (39) to housing (37) before removing the adjustment screw.
Loosen nut (38) and remove adjustment screw (39) from housing (37) .

Remove gasket (42) from housing (37) .
Remove two dowel pins (41) from housing (37) .
Remove cylinder block (40), spring (44), and spring collar (43). The spring and the spring collar will remain in the center hole of the block.

Remove O-ring seal (46) from housing (37) .
Position housing (37) in a press, as shown. Use the press to remove shaft assembly (45) from housing (37). In order to prevent damage to pistons (47) and shaft assembly (45), support the shaft assembly inside the housing during removal.

Remove 14 screws (48), seven pistons (47), center pin (49), and retaining plate (50) from shaft assembly (45) .

Check seven pistons (47) at Areas (X) for pitting and scratches.
Use a screwdriver to remove piston rings (51) from each of the pistons.

Check center pin (49) at Areas (Y) for scratches and pitting.
