Improper lifting and improper tie-downs can allow the load to shift or fail and cause injury or damage. Use only properly rated cables and slings with lift and tie down points provided.Follow the instructions in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lifting and Tying Down the Machine" for the proper technique for securing the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Specifications" for specific weight information.

Engage the parking brake by moving hydraulic lockout control to the LOCKED position.

Rear tie-downs (two places) Use the drawbar, the outer edge of the track, or the ripper. The ripper must be lowered if this procedure is used.
Use proper rated cables and slings.
On sharp corners, use corner protectors.
Check all the laws that govern the load characteristics (height, weight, width, and length).Lifting
The crane should be positioned such that the machine is lifted parallel to the ground. Spreader bars should be wide enough to prevent contact between the crane and the machine that is being lifted.
Position the slings beneath the front of the track and beneath the rear of the track.Tie-Down
There are specific locations for tying down the machine. Use the front towing eye to secure the front tie-down. Use the inside edge of the track shoe to secure the side tie downs. Use the drawbar, ripper, or both outer edges of the track shoes to secure the rear tie downs.Tie-Down Points For Fire Plow Machines (If Equipped)
When a machine with attachments for the fire plow is tied down, the four external tie-down points must be used.

Use properly rated cables to tie down the machine that is a fire plow.
Use the additional two tie-down points on each track roller frame to stabilize the machine.Note: Do not attempt to lift the machine from the tie-down points.Consult your Cat dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
