Proper operation and maintenance are key factors in attaining the maximum service life and economy for the engine. Follow the instructions in this Operation and Maintenance Manual to minimize operating costs and maximize the service life of the engine.Observe the gauges frequently during engine operation. Record the data from the gauges in a log regularly. Compare the data to the specifications for normal engine operation. Comparing the data over time will help to detect changes in engine performance.Investigate any significant change in the gauge readings. Check the gauges and the driven equipment frequently when the engine is operating under a load. The engine can be operated for extended periods of time at full load.Partial Load Operation
Extended operation at reduced load (less than 50%) may cause increased oil consumption and carbon buildup in the cylinders. A loss of power and/or poor performance may result.Due to the nature of the standby application, running the engine for up to 1 hour a month unloaded to conduct maintenance checks is acceptable.
