When the PLE640 System does not communicate with Product Link Web, certain steps can be taken before traveling to the customer site. Follow the steps from the "Off-Site Diagnostics" in order to help determine the fault before traveling to the customer site.Off-Site Diagnostics
Note: Some steps of the "Off-Site Diagnostics" sections are dependent on the customer being on site.Determine the Subscription Status
Check the status of the customers Product Link subscription within the "Dealer Admin Control Center" area of Product Link Web.
If the subscription status is not current refer to "Product Link Subscription Status is Not Current".
If the subscription status is current refer to "Product Link Subscription Status is Current".Product Link Subscription Status is Not Current
Check to see if the subscription is set up correctly, or is out of date. Contact your dealer administrator for subscription services.Product Link Subscription Status is Current
Log on to the equipment page through Product Link Web.

On the equipment page click on the refresh button.
If the equipment checks in with new data, then the equipment was more than likely out of coverage. The equipment should continue to check in from this point as long as coverage remains available.
If the equipment does not respond to the "Refresh", continue to Step 3.
Do not operate or work on this equipment unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
Request the location of the equipment. With the customer at the location of the equipment, the following questions may or may not be answered. Ask the customer if the equipment is powered ON, and located where the radios have clear line of sight to the sky.
If the equipment was inside of a building, under/next to a large obstacle, or has the battery power OFF, have the customer do the following:
Turn the equipment power ON if the power was OFF.
Attempt to move the equipment to a more open location with a clear line of sight to the sky.Try the "Refresh" again.
If the equipment was ON, and in a good location for data transfer, have the customer check to see if the radio disable switch was disabled. The radio disable switch is a switch between the control module and radios. When the radio disable switch is enabled, the power to the radios is off. If the radio disable switch was enabled, then have the customer disable the radio disable switch, and attempt another "Refresh".
If the "Refresh Button" does not return new data, refer to "On-Site Diagnostics".On-Site Diagnostics
Note: Before any on-site diagnostics are performed all diagnostic procedures from the "Off-Site Diagnostics" section should have been previously performed.
Connect the 425-6889 Cable As to the service port on the Network Manager harness and your laptop. Refer to Systems Operation Troubleshooting Testing and Adjusting, UENR3697, "Service Dashboard" for information on accessing and using the "Service Dashboard".
