Start By:
Remove the idler and the yoke. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Idler and Yoke - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove nut (1) and retaining bolt (2) from both sides of the yoke.

Remove pins (3) that hold yoke (4) to the links with Tooling (A) .

Remove seals (5) from the yoke. Use Tooling (B) and a press in order to remove the bushings from the yoke.

Remove the bolts, caps (6) and guards (7) from both sides of the front idler. Remove the spring washers from guards (7) .

Remove seals (8) from both sides of the guards.
Remove bearing (9) from the guards with Tooling (B) and a press.

Remove retaining bolt (10) and the washer from link (11) on each side of the idler. Insert a bolt that is five inches long into the lock. Remove the lock by striking the bolt with a hammer. Remove the bolt.

Remove link (11) from the idler shaft with Tooling (C), as shown.
Remove the Duo-cone seal kit from the link.

Remove Duo-cone seal kit (12) from the bushing in the idler. Put identification on the Duo-cone seals so the seals are installed as a set. The Duo-cone seal kits cannot be mixed after the seals are used.
Remove O-ring seal (13) from the idler shaft.
Remove bolts (14) from the bushing.
The front idler must be turned upside-down. Repeat Steps 7 through 12.

Put the front idler in a press, as shown. The weight of the idler is 108 kg (240.0 lb). Push bottom bushing (16) out of the front idler with the press and idler shaft (15). The front idler must be turned upside-down. Push the remaining bushing out of the idler in the same way as the bottom bushing.

Remove bushing (18) from bushing (17) with a press.
Cut down pins (19) even with the face of the bushings. Make the surface of the bushings smooth with a file.
