Every Cat generator has a serial number stamped on the nameplate and on the frame. The plate is located on the left side of the generator. The number identifies the generator type, capacity, and nominal voltage of the generator.Ordering Parts

Effective First Quarter 2001 the Cat Product Identification Number (PIN) will change from 8 to 17 characters. In an effort to provide uniform equipment identification, Caterpillar and other construction equipment manufacturers are moving to comply with the latest version of the product identification numbering standard.
