Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, secure and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that the diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Test Step 1. CHECK THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE AT THE SENSOR
Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
At the machine harness connector for the sensor, measure the voltage between supply contact A (wire R818-YL) and return contact B (wire J764-BR).Expected Result:The voltage measurement is in the range of 5.0 0.2 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage measurement is in the range of 5.0 0.2 VDC. The power supply circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage measurement is less than 5.0 0.2 VDC. The power supply circuit is not correct.Repair: Check to see if a CID 0262 diagnostic code for the ECM sensor 5.0 volt power supply is active. Perform the CID 0262 troubleshooting procedures in order to isolate where the problem could be.Either the sensor ground circuit wire J764-BR or the supply circuit wire R818-YL has a bad connection or an open in the machine harness.Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL AT THE ECMThe key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the ON position.
Reconnect the machine harness connector to the connector for the sensor.
At the machine harness connector for the Machine Control ECM, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the sensor return contact at J1-21 (wire J764-BR) and along the sensor signal contact at J1-22 (wire C948-WH).
Measure the VDC of the sensor signal.Expected Result:The sensor's signal is in the 0.5 VDC to 4.5
