( 1 ) If the Wolff Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Stand, the Adjustable Wrench Group and the Adapter Plate are not available to disassemble and assemble the lift cylinder, contact the Caterpillar Service Technology Group.Start By:
Remove the lift cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lift Cylinder - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

Put the lift cylinder on Tooling (A). The weight of the lift cylinder is 136 kg (300 lb).
Use Tooling (B), and unscrew crown (14) from cylinder assembly (1). Slide the cylinder assembly away from rod assembly (7) .
Remove ring (4) and seal assembly (3) from piston (5) .
Use Tooling (C) to remove nut (2). Nut (2) holds piston (5) to rod assembly (7). Remove piston (5) from the rod assembly.
Slide cylinder assembly (1) onto rod assembly (7). Screw crown (14) into the cylinder assembly. Pull the cylinder assembly and the crown as a unit away from the rod assembly. Remove the crown and head (6) from the cylinder assembly.
Remove seal (12) and ring (13) from head (6) .
Remove wiper seal (11), seal (10), seal assembly (9) and ring (8) from head (6) .
Remove the lip type seal from both sides of the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations.
Remove the bearing from the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations.
