Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the flexible exhaust pipe. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flexible Exhaust Pipe - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
If necessary, drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.

Typical example
Disconnect harness assembly (3) and harness assembly (5).
Remove harness assembly (5) from bracket (4).
If necessary, disconnect coolant tube assembly (1) and coolant tube assembly (7) from exhaust back pressure valve (2).
Loosen the Allen head bolt on V-band clamp (6). Support the exhaust back pressure valve (2).
Remove V-band clamp (6) from exhaust back pressure valve (2)Note: If the V-band clamp remains tight on the flanges, apply releasing fluid on the V-band clamp to assist removal. Lightly tap the bolts on the V-band clamp with a soft faced hammer to assist removal.Do not use a prybar to remove the V-band clamp.
Remove the exhaust back pressure valve (2) from exhaust elbow (8).Note: The connection between the turbocharger and the back pressure valve could be an elbow or a straight connection.
Remove V-band clamp (6).Installation Procedure

Ensure that all components are clean and free from wear and damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.

Typical example
Use Tooling (A) to lubricate the Allen headed bolt for V-band clamp (6). Position the V-band clamp onto exhaust elbow (8). Ensure that the V-band clamp is correctly orientated.
Position exhaust back pressure valve (2) onto exhaust elbow (8). Ensure that the alignment dowel in the exhaust elbow is correctly engaged into the alignment hole in the exhaust back pressure valve.
Position V-band clamp (6) onto exhaust back pressure valve (2) and exhaust elbow (8).
Tighten V-band clamp (6) to a torque of 12 N m (106 lb in).Note: Ensue that the Allen headed bolt for the V-band clamp does not contact any other components.
If necessary, connect coolant tube assembly (1) and coolant tube assembly (7) to exhaust back pressure valve (2).
Slide the connection for harness assembly (5) onto bracket (4). Connect harness assembly (3) to harness assembly (5).
If necessary, fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct procedure.End By:
