3-1 Disassembly
(1) Removal of shoes 1. Remove shoe nuts (11) and shoe bolts (12).2. Remove shoe plate (13).(2) Removal of links 1. Remove the track assembly to be repaired.2. Remove 3 or 4 shoes on both sides of the link to be renewed.3. Stretch the track assembly out flat with the links up. Pull out the track pins on both sides of the link to be replaced, using a service press.4. Using gas, cut the bushing and fit into the link to be replaced.* Make the cut in the bushing as wide as possible.5. Remove the link to be replaced.3-2 Reassembly
1. Mounting of links1. Press fit the assembled link into the mating section.* Use care not to press-fit it excessively.* Use a service press to press-fit. Adjust it until the shoe bolt hole is aligned with the mating shoe.2. Put the collar in the counter part of one link and set a new link.3. Press-fit the master pin in one link and the track pin in the other link. * A large hammer may be used to drive the master pin. Use care not to damage the links.* Use a service press to fit the track pin.(2) Mounting of the shoe 1. Clean the shoe mounting surface of the link and nut seat surface.2. Mount the new shoe and tighten the new nuts and bolts to the specified torque of 78 8 kgf m (563 58 ft lb) * Apply a coat of machine oil (#120) onto the shoe bolt thread and seats.* If the nuts and bolts have rusted and cannot be lossened with a wrench, cut them using gas.* If the link is discolored, due to heat it should be replaced.
