Schematic for the Rear Axle Lubrication System (A) Oil from the brake accumulator charging valve (B) Case drain oil to the hydraulic tank (C) Oil to the brake oil coolers (1) Control manifold (2) Gear motor (3) Gear pump (4) Manifold (5) Relief valve (6) Oil filter (7) Bypass switch (8) Rear axleThe 777G has a continuous lubrication system for the rear axle. This system does not require the truck to be in motion in order to provide oil flow. The rear axle lubrication system provides lubrication oil to the following components:
Differential and Bevel Gears
Rear Axles
Final Drives

(1) Control manifold (2) Gear motor (3) Gear pump (4) Manifold (5) Relief valve (6) Oil filter (7) Bypass switch (8) Rear axleAfter the demands for the brake system are met, brake oil from the brake accumulator charging valve is directed to control manifold (1). At control manifold (1) the solenoid valve that is controlled by the brake ECM controls the oil that is sent to gear motor (2). Gear motor (2) drives gear pump (3). Gear pump (3) pulls lubrication oil from rear axle (8). Oil from gear pump (3) is sent to manifold (4) that is connected to oil filter (6). Oil then goes through oil filter (6) to the differential, bevel gear, rear axle, and final drives. This hydraulic system lubricates the bearings for the differential and bevel gear group and the bearings for the rear wheels. This hydraulic system also cools the bearings for the differential and bevel gear group and the bearings for the rear wheels. For the correct oil that should be used in the system, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine. The brake ECM controls the system for the rear axle oil. The temperature sensor is located at the front of the rear axle housing. The temperature sensor is the main control for the supply solenoid valve and the bypass valve. During start-up, the system is turned ON in order to charge the lube system. The system is turned OFF if the lube oil is cold. When the lube system is cycled, the system turns ON and the system turns OFF. Cycling the system helps to prevent the final drives from filling with excessive oil. The gear limit is used to prevent the machine from running at high speed until the differential oil has warmed up.
