Grade Control Mode and Guidance Method Interaction
The factory installed GRADE System for the 2D guidance methods will provide the operator with the following information:
Information on the status screen on the machine screen of the bucket profile view
Benchmark status icon
Depth to grade data with direction indicator (above/below/on grade)
The linkage elevation status icon
Bucket cross section view
Bucket slope angle and direction
The rotation angle and direction (when the system is utilizing a rotation sensor)In addition to the 2D system, the factory installed 2D Cat GRADE System option will allow the operator to set the target elevation, cross slope, and the main-fall of a work site. The system displays the Grade information on the TD520 GRADE Display. The 3D GRADE System option uses two GNSS receivers and a correction data source. The two GNSS receivers and a correction data source provide the operator with a precise location of the bucket cutting edge in three-dimensional space. The system will also provide horizontal and vertical guidance with reference to work sit design file.Machine Measurements and Calibrations
Machine dimensions and GRADE System calibrations will be completed at the factory. Both machine dimensions and GRADE System calibrations can severely affect the system accuracy and performance.Note: Special Instruction, M0082996 , "GRADE System Setup and Calibration Procedure for the 2D and 3D on Next Gen Hydraulic Excavators" provides detailed instructions on completing an initial measurement and calibrations on the machine for the GRADE System. The instruction can also be used if servicing the machine indicates that measurement and calibrations are required.Cat® GRADE 2D System Software Enabled Attachment and 2D Advanced / 3D Cat GRADE Systems Licenses
All factory installed Excavators equipped with GRADE System will be delivered from the factory with the Software Enabled Attachment (SEA) installation status for the GRADE system set to installed.Note: If the Grade Control System installation status for the GRADE System is not set to installed, the GRADE System will not function.The Grade Control System installation status should show "Installed" and the Grade Control System enablement status should show "Enabled" for the GRADE System to function properly. The system may be disabled to suppress any GRADE diagnostic codes from faulty components without the necessity to obtain a factory password from the feature protection system. The installation status can be viewed and set using the machine monitor display or using Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET).The 2D Advanced / 3D GRADE Systems requires licenses to be installed on the EC520 R2 ECM Controller. The 2D Advanced / 3D GRADE System licenses tile will provide the operator with licenses status on TD520 display from the Operator UI. The Web (Tech) UI allows the technician to view and install the licenses that the 2D Advanced/3D GRADE System requires or missing on the system.
