There is a new maximum temperature for heating crankshaft gear. If the temperature of the 160-8143 Crankshaft Gear is raised too much the crankshaft gear will be damaged.Note: If the 160-8143 Crankshaft Gear is reused the gear cannot be heated over 210 °C (410 °F).Note: Do not use a torch to heat the gear. The gear can be warped if a torch is used. The hardness of the gear may also be changed with the use of a torch. Use the following procedure to heat the crankshaft gear:
Preheat the oven to a maximum temperature of 210 °C (410 °F).
Heat the gear in the oven for a maximum of one hour.
Install the gear on the crankshaft with the keyway in alignment with the crankshaft key.
If the gear does not fit and the gear was not heated during the removal of the gear then repeat Step 1 through Step 3. Do not heat the gear more than two times during the life of the gear.
