Illustration 1 g03813935The 285-7460 Control Manifold Gp (A) in the 340-1026 Fan Drive Lines Gp may fail on the machines listed above. Machines originally shipped with the standard configuration ( 252-7008 Control Manifold Gp and 340-1025 Fan Drive Lines Gp) that have been converted to the reversing fan option, which includes 285-7460 Control Manifold Gp, may also be suspect.The failure may be due to debris and contamination generated from the fan motor. This issue may result in fan malfunction and overheating of the hydraulic system.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and is recommending the following interim corrective action.1.Document the conditions the machine was running in, system temperature at time of failure and level 1, level 2, or level 3 triggers were activated and logged in the software.2. When troubleshooting the fan manifold, if solenoids, diverter valve, and/or relief valve cartridges are removed from the manifold, pay special attention to any debris that may be found.3. If possible, consider checking the fan motor for any signs of abnormal wear. Document any findings from the above and submit a DSN ticket.4. Until an Interim Corrective Action can be applied, replace with same part.
