1. Remove the rock guard from the elevator frame.

2. Gouge out one existing weld at a time from the speed reducer mount (A) to maintain the location of the speed reducer mount.
3. Add a 10 mm (0.39 inch) chamfer (E) to the edge of the mount to improve access for weld repairing the mount.

4. Weld repair the speed reducer mount following the weld call outs in Image 1.3.1. (12 mm (0.47 inch) bevel-groove weld, 10 mm (0.39 inch) fillet weld, 8 mm (0.31 inch) flare bevel-groove weld, 5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld)
Note: Only replace one weld at a time to maintain the location of the speed reducer mount in all directions.

5. Inspect the welds that secure the elevator carrier (B) to the elevator frame for any cracks.
6. If cracks are found in the welds that secure the elevator carrier (B) to the elevator frame, gouge out the existing welds and weld repair the elevator carrier (B) following the weld call outs in Image 1.4.1. (12 mm (0.47 inch) bevel-groove weld, 10 mm (0.39 inch) bevel-groove weld, 5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld)

7. Inspect the welds of the left hand (C) and right hand (D) lower rock guards for any cracks.
8. If cracks are found in the weld that secures the left hand (C) or right hand (D) lower rock guard mount to the elevator frame, gouge out the existing welds and weld repair the lower rock guard mounts (C) or (D) following the weld call outs in Image 1.5.1. (5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld)
9. Install the rock guard removed in step one to the elevator frame.

10. Inspect the rib plates on the ejector face for any cracks.
11. If cracks are found in the welds for the rib plates on the ejector face, gouge out the existing welds and weld repair the welds for the rib plates on the ejector face following the weld call outs in Image 1.6.1. (5 mm (0.2 inch) bevel-groove weld, 5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld, 8 mm (0.31 inch) fillet weld)
Note: The four 5 mm (0.2 inch) bevel-groove welds should be terminated at the end of the rib at location F. The end of the rib should have no weld. Reference Image 1.6.2.
Note: The single 5 mm (0.2 inch) fillet weld should be terminated at the end of the rib at location G. The end of the rib should have no weld. Reference Image 1.6.3.

12. Fabricate two spacers (H) out of ASTM A572 Grade 50 structural steel. Reference Image 1.7.1 for dimensions.
