ACTION REQUIRED
1. Remove the 8T-8925 Draft Arm Trunnion Cap Golts and 7X-0346 Draft Arm Trunnion Bolts. These parts will not be reused.
2. The trunnion and cap joints must be clean. If they are not clean, the integrity of the bolted joint could be compromised. Inspect the following for paint, grease, oil, or debris and clean if found:
a. trunnion cap to draft arm bolted joint surfaces
b. trunnion to bowl bolted joint surfaces
c. all bolt hole threads
3. If nicks or burrs are found on the trunnion joint surfaces noted in the previous step, the integrity of the bolted joint could be compromised as well. Inspect these joints for nicks or burrs and remove high spots if found.
4. Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to each of the new 7X-0346 Draft Arm Trunnion Bolts and 8T-8925 Draft Arm Trunnion Cap Bolts. Tighten the new 7X-0346 Draft Arm Trunnion Bolts to a torque of 270+/-40 N-m (200+/-30 lb ft). Tighten the new 8T-8925 Draft Arm Trunnion Cap Bolts to a torque of 430+/-60 N-m (317+/-44 lb ft).

PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSPECTING THE DRAFT ARM TRUNNIONS ON CERTAIN 621G AND 627G WHEEL TRACTOR-SCRAPERS
MODELS INVOLVED - 621G AND 627G WHEEL TRACTOR-SCRAPERS
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The draft arm trunnions need to be inspected on certain 621G and 627G Wheel Tractor Scrapers. The existing draft arm trunnion bolts or draft arm trunnion cap bolts could fail if the bolts were not tightened properly during factory assembly. If the draft arm trunnion bolts or draft arm trunnion cap bolts fail, the draft frame will separate from the bowl and cause additional damage to the draft frame, bowl lift cylinders, and other items which are attached to both the draft frame and bowl. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 12Dec2007 when scheduling this service.
