STARTING MOTOR GP-ELECTRIC 3960915 - Caterpillar

1. Put the machine on level ground and lower the bowl.
To prevent possible personal injury, release all the air and hydraulic oil pressure from the systems before any lines are disconnected.
2. Remove the bolts, yokes (4), pins (1) and disconnect rod assemblies (3) from steering links (2). 3. Disconnect six hoses (6) and one wire harness (5) from the bracket (651E only). Put caps or plugs in the hose openings to keep dirt out of the hydraulic system. 4. Disconnect eight hoses (6) and two wire harnesses (5) from the bracket (657E only). Put caps or plugs on the hose openings to keep dirt out of the hydraulic system. 5. Disconnect hose assemblies (8) from tube assemblies (7). Put caps or plugs in the end of the hose assemblies to prevent any oil loss. 6. Put tooling (A) under the draft frame as shown. 7. Put wooden blocks (10) under each side of cushion hitch (9) so it can not fall to either side. 8. Disconnect the hose assembly and connect shop air (11) to the brake relay valve to release the emergency brakes. 9. Put tooling (B) and a lift truck under the front of the tractor as shown. 10. Disconnect grease fittings (12) from the lower cushion hitch pins.11. Remove the bolts and retainers (13) from both lower and upper cushion hitch pins. 12. Use a suitable hydraulic jack (15) and wooden blocks to push both the lower and upper vertical cushion hitch pins (14) out of the hitch. Use a nylon strap and a hoist or two persons to remove the pins. The weight of each pin is 39 kg (85 lb.). 13. Use a lift truck as shown in illustration B73669X1 to pull the tractor away from goose neck (16). The weight of the front of the tractor is approximately 4536 kg (10,000 lb.). 14. Remove one washer from the lower gooseneck pin bore and three washers (17) from the cushion hitch pin bore.Connection Of Tractor To Scraper
1. Install the washers in the lower vertical pin bore. Install steel washer (4) with the groove and holes in the bore first. Next, install brass washer (3); then install steel washer (1). 2. Use a lift truck to move the tractor into position so the vertical pin bores in the cushion hitch are in alignment with the vertical pin bores in gooseneck (5). Make sure brass washer (2) (see illustration B73674X1) is in position in the lower pin bore of the lower gooseneck. 3. Install lower cushion hitch pin (6) and the upper cushion hitch pin that hold the tractor to the scraper.4. Install the retainers and the bolts that hold the pins in place.5. Connect the grease fittings to the lower cushion hitch pin. 6. Disconnect shop air (7) from the brake relay valve to apply emergency brakes. Connect the air line to the brake relay valve. 7.
