Troubleshooting Symptom with Fault Codes
The timer for the machine preheater has a fault code retrieval device that is part of the control panel. The device automatically activates if the preheater malfunctions. The fault codes appear on the display screen of the control panel. Five fault codes can be stored in the control panel.
Table 1
Fault Code     Fault Description     Cause and Repair
000     Normal Operation     No faults
001     Advance warning overvoltage     Check the voltage between pins 1 and 3 on the external plug. Voltage is greater than 30 volts.
002     Advance warning undervoltage     Check the voltage between pins 1 and 3 on the external plug. Voltage is less than 20 volts.
010
Overvoltage shutdown     Check the voltage between pins 1 and 3 on the external plug. Voltage is greater than 30 volts. Check the charging system on the machine.
011     Undervoltage shutdown     Check the voltage between pins 1 and 3 on the external plug. Voltage is less than 20 volts. Check the batteries and the connections.
012     Overheating     Check circulation of the coolant.
The temperature at the temperature sensor (thermal cutout) is greater than
115 °C (240 °F).
Check the overheat sensor at pins 5 and 8 on the internal connector that is underneath the control unit. Resistance value 150000 ohms at
−25 °C (−13 °F). Resistance value 10000 ohms at
25 °C (77 °F)
013     Excessive temperature at flame sensor     The flame sensor signals a temperature that is greater than
700 °C (1290 °F).
Check the resistance of the flame sensor at pins 10 and 12 on the internal connector underneath the control unit. Resistance value 900 ohms at
−25 °C (−13 °F). Resistance value 1100 ohms at
25 °C (77 °F)
014     Possible overheating detected     Check the temperature sensor. Check the overheat sensor.
Check circulation of the coolant.
015     Too many overheat faults (error codes 012, 013, and 014).     The control unit is interlocked after three successive overheat faults. Eliminate the causes of the overheat faults. Reset the control unit by clearing the error from the memory.
020     Open circuit (Glow Plug)     Check for continuity between pin 3 and pin 4 on the internal connector. If OK, replace the control unit.
021     Short circuit (Glow Plug)     Check the resistance between pin 3 and pin 4 on the internal connector. Resistance value 2 ohms. If OK, replace the control unit.
033     Combustion air fan     Speed deviation of longer than 60 seconds.
Apply supply voltage to the leads of the motor. If the motor does not turn, replace the motor with an integrated sensor.
Check the voltage supply to the sensor between pin 13 and pin 14 with the heater turned on. Nominal 8 volts, if not replace the control unit.
Check the sensor: Measure the voltage between pin 14 and pin 15 with the heater turned on. Nominal value 4 volt
