Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Remove bolts (2). Remove elbow assembly (1) and gasket (3) .

Remove water temperature regulator (4). Note the orientation of the water temperature regulator for installation purposes.

Loosen clamp (8) and disconnect hose (9). Remove bolts (7). Remove water temperature regulator housing (5) and gasket (6) .Installation Procedure

Install gasket (6) and position water temperature regulator housing (5). Install bolts (7). Connect hose (9) and tighten clamp (8) .

Note the orientation of water temperature regulator (4). Install water temperature regulator (4) .

Install gasket (3) and elbow assembly (1). Install bolts (2) .
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
