If the wrong connecting rod guide is used, damaged engine components could result.The following adverse issues can be experienced if the wrong guide is used:
The guide will not fit properly.
Debris can be introduced to the rod bearing from the fractured face.
The connecting rod bearing will not be held in place.
The crankshaft can be damaged.Solution
Illustrations 1 and 2 give the dimensions that differentiate between the Type 1 and the Type 2 connecting rod guides.
