(5)Diesel Engine Crankcase
1. Run the engine long enough to warm the oil. Stop engine and remove drain plug.2. Remove filter.3. Clean filter base.4. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the new oil filter seal.5. Install new filter.6. Tighten filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn after gasket contacts filter base.7. Clean and install drain plug. Fill crankcase. See Refill Capacities. Check oil level. Maintain oil level to FULL mark on dipstick.8. Start engine and check for leaks.9. Stop engine and check oil level.(6)Fan Belts
Check condition and adjustment of belt. Correct adjustment is 13/16 to 15/16 inches (20 to 23 mm) deflection with 25 lb. (11 kg) force.Loosen alternator mounting bolts. Move alternator to tighten or loosen belt.Tighten mounting bolts. Recheck adjustment.(7)Steering Brakes
Measure pedal free travel. Correct travel is 5 to 6 inches (120 to 150 mm).1. If adjustment is necessary, block tractor, release pedals and raise seat.2. Remove cover.3. Turn adjusting screw in until tight.4. Loosen brake support screw locknut.5. Tighten support screw until it just touches brake drum. Back out screw 1 1/2 turns. Tighten locknut.6. Back out adjusting screw approximately 31/2 turns. Check adjustment. Install cover and repeat procedure for opposite brake.(8)Fuel Tank And Cap
Open valve to drain moisture and sediment.Remove and disassemble cap. Wash parts in clean solvent. Lightly oil elements. Assemble and install cap.(9)Battery
Maintain electrolyte level at opening in filler tube opening. At proper charging rate battery will not require more than 1 ounce (30 cc) of water per cell per week. Keep batteries clean.(10)Transmission Screen
1. Remove floor plate.2. Remove screen and wash in clean solvent. Check seal, replace seal if necessary.3. Install screen and floor plate.
