Remove PMG Components
The permanent magnet (PMG) rotor contains strong magnets. During the removal process for the rotor, these magnets can cause a crush hazard between the rotor and the stator for the PMG. Use the proper tooling in order to remove the rotor.
The physical design of the 1400 frame, 1600 frame, and 1800 frame PMG stators are different.

The PMG components can be accessed by removing some of the terminal box access panels. Refer to the "Terminal Box - Remove and Install" section of this publication if the terminal box must be removed.
Ensure that all of the PMG components and all of the wiring is properly marked or labeled before disassembly.
Disconnect the electronic controls. 1400 Frame PMG Stator Remove
Before proceeding, the position of the PMG stator must be marked (17). Illustration 4 shows one method that can be used in order to label the correct position of the PMG stator. The correct position must be known before disassembly in order to ensure that the PMG stator will be put into the correct position when the generator components are reassembled.

Remove the PMG stator before the PMG rotor is removed. Removal of the PMG stator first is preferred for the 1400 frame generator. If needed, refer to the "PMG Rotor Remove" section. Note: Refer to the warning statement that is located at the beginning of the "Remove PMG Components" section.
Remove two of the upper PMG stator mounting bolts (18). Install threaded rods into the mounting bolt holes. Remove the two lower PMG stator mounting bolts (18).

Use a pry bar in order to remove the PMG stator. Illustration 6 shows the notches (19) where the pry bar is to be placed in order to pry on the stator bracket. Remove the PMG stator. Note: Correctly position the pry bar so damage will not occur to the PMG stator.

Remove the stator. 1600 Frame PMG Stator Remove
Before proceeding, the position of the PMG stator must be marked (21) and (22). Illustration 7 shows one method that can be used in order to label the correct position of the PMG stator. The correct position must be known before disassembly in order to ensure that the PMG stator will be put into the correct position when the generator components are reassembled.

Place a suitable lifting device (23) around the PMG stator (24).
