Assembly Procedure
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

Install the guide and spring (2).
Place spring assembly (1) in a press. Be sure that spring (2) is as vertically straight with spring assembly (1) as possible.
Slowly begin to compress spring (2). Install the nut. Periodically tighten the nut during compression of spring (2). Compress spring (2) until a distance of 217 1 mm (8.54 0.04 inch) exists between the two ends of the spring.
Tighten the nut in order to maintain the required compression of the spring. Remove spring assembly (1) from the press.
Place spring assembly (1) in a vise and install the cotter pin., End By: Install the recoil spring. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2808, "Recoil Spring - Install".
