Clutch And Output Shaft Groups
Removing of installing tube for oil gauge.1. Remove the tube assembly oil gauge.
Removing or installing clutch groups.2. Remove the forward and reverse clutch groups from the housing.
Removing or installing oil dam.3. Remove the two bolts that fasten the oil dam to the rear housing.
Removing inner bearing from output shaft.4. Remove the front inner bearing from output shaft with a bearing puller. Tool numbers called out are available from Twin Disc. Caterpillar tooling may be used in certain applications.5. Proceed as follows to remove the output gear: a. Remove the snap ring that holds the gear in position.
Remove output gear with Twin Disc Tooling TD 300409-1.b. Install the pulling adapter of tool TD 300409-1 on the gear using two or three pulling screws depending on thread holes provided in the gear.c. Install the tool TD 300409 onto the end of output shaft and adapt the pulling legs onto the pulling adapter.d. Remove gear from shaft. An estimated 40 tons of hydraulic pressure is required to remove gear.
Due to the force required (40 tons) to remove the gear from the output shaft, a protective shield should be placed around the press.
Remove output gear with Twin Disc Tooling TD 300409-1/2. For removal of gears of ratio 1.16:1; 1.53:1 and 1.71:1, pulling holes are not available due to design of the gears, therefore pulling plate of tool TD 300409-1 should be used for gear removal.e. Install tooling TD 300409-2 on gear and remove with hydraulic press.
Removing rear inner bearing from output shaft with Twin Disc Tooling TD 300409-1/3.6. Install tooling TD300409-1/3 and remove inner bearing race assembly from the output shaft.
