Installation Procedure
The following procedure is for the installation of the latch assembly for the left side. Use the same procedure to install the latch assembly for the right side.
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling around latch assembly (1) and to a suitable hoist. Lift the latch assembly toward the machine. The weight of the latch assembly is 16 kg (35 lb).

Position latch assembly (1) to ejector body (3). Install shims (2) that were removed in the removal procedure between the latch assembly and the ejector body. Install plate (5), four bolts (4) and the washers.
Use the following steps to set the latch assembly:

Start the engine and retract ejector blade (8) until the ejector blade is locked in position by finger (6).
Check the clearance and the contact point between roller (7) and finger (6) on each side of the ejector blade. If necessary, add or remove shims (2) at the appropriate side. If necessary, the latch assembly can be adjusted vertically.
Move the ejector blade in and out of the latch assembly in order to check for simultaneous operation. This is identified by the operating sound of the latch assemblies. If both of the latch assemblies act together a single sound will be the result. If separate sounds are apparent the setup is incorrect. Add or remove shims (2) at the appropriate side in order to adjust the timing of the latch assembly.
