Remove O-ring seals (43) and O-ring seal (44).

Remove bolts (45) and one-half of lock assembly (42).

Install Tooling (D) in cover (46). Tighten Tooling (D) evenly to separate cover (46) from the transfer gear case assembly.
Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to remove cover (46) from the transfer gear case assembly. The weight of cover (46) is approximately 82 kg (180 lb). Remove cover (46).

Attach a suitable lifting device to a flat piece of steel bar stock, and place the bar stock under the bottom of input gear (47).
Lift input gear (47) from the transfer gear case assembly. The weight of input gear (47) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb). Remove input gear (47).

Remove bearing cones (48) from input gear (47).

Use two people to remove idler gear (49) from transfer gear case assembly. The weight of idler gear (49) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb). Remove idler gear (49).

Remove the other half of lock (42), bearing cones (50), and spacer (51) from idler gear (49).
