1. Remove plug (1) and drain remaining coolant.2. Loosen clamps (2) and slide hose (3) onto tube assembly.3. Identify and disconnect wires (4).4. Disconnect hoses (5) and (6).5. Remove two bolts (7) and two bolts (8).6. Remove water pump and gaskets. The following steps are for the installation of the water pump.7. Position gaskets and water pump. Install bolts (7) and (8).8. Connect hoses (5) and (6).9. Connect wires (4).10. Slide hose (3) onto water pump and tighten clamps (2).11. Start By:a. remove water pump 1. Remove two bolts (2), elbow (1) and gasket from water pump. 2. Remove bolts (4) and cover (3) from housing. 3. Loosen bolt (5) approximately 6.35 mm (.25 in.). Hit the bolt with a soft hammer to remove impeller (6) from the shaft. Remove bolt (5) and impeller (6). 4. Remove spring (7) and seal assembly (8) from the shaft. 5. Turn the housing over and remove bolt (9). 6. After the removal of bolt (9) install bolt from tooling (A) in shaft and gear assembly (10).7. Put plate from driver group in tooling (A) on top of bolt, and install the remainder of tooling (A) on gear and bearing assembly as shown.8. Remove gear and bearing assembly (10) with tooling (A). Remove the bearing and gear assembly. The gear is held in place by two pins on the bottom. 9. If necessary remove bearing (11) from the gear with tool (B). 10. Remove retaining ring (12) from housing with tooling (C). Remove the bearing and shaft assembly. 11. If necessary, remove bearing (13) from shaft with tooling (D) and a press. 12. Turn the housing over and remove seal with tooling (D). Assemble Water Pump
The seal must be installed with the lip toward the bearings. 1. Install the lip type seal in housing with tooling (A) to the bottom of the seal counterbore. Put a thin layer of engine oil on the lip of the seal. 2. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearing (13) on shaft (14).3. Install the shaft and bearing assembly in housing. 4. Install retaining ring (12) in housing with tooling (B). 5. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearing (11) on gear (10).
When gear is installed, make sure the pins on the gear engage the holes in the shaft.
6. Put gear (10) and bearing in position on the shaft and install washer and bolt.
Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assistance at installation. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
7. Put the ceramic ring (15) in position in the rubber seal. Use hand pressure and tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the ceramic ring and rubber seal. 8. Remove the spring from the seal assembly (8). Use hand
