Relieving Trapped Pressure
Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Pressure can sometimes become trapped in a hydraulic cylinder if a hose is disconnected before pressure is completely relieved. If a trapped pressure condition occurs, always use a 466-5302 Coupler Bleed Tool to safely relieve the remaining pressure.Never attempt to relieve hydraulic pressure by loosening a coupler. Trapped hydraulic pressure can cause a loosened coupler to dislodge unexpectedly with great force. Serious personal injury or death will result if the coupler becomes a projectile and strikes persons working in the area.Loosening a coupler may result in an escape of high-pressure oil that can penetrate the skin. Serious personal injury or death could result.Never use a hammer and punch (or other similar method) to unseat a coupler check ball that is under pressure. Serious personal injury or death could result due to the sudden and uncontrolled escape of high-pressure oil.General Maintenance
Frequently inspect all system components for leads or damage. Repair or replace damaged components.417-9063 Telescoping Cylinder
Use only SAE 10W high grade hydraulic oil with the cylinder. The use of any other oil may invalidate your warranty.
Use coupler dust caps when cylinder is disconnected from the hoses. Keep the entire cylinder clean to prolong the cylinder life.417-9064 Hydraulic Air Pump
Check the oil level of the pump prior to start up and add oil if necessary by removing the fill port cap. Always be sure that any connected cylinders are fully retracted before adding fluid to the reservoir.
Frequently check oil condition for contamination. As a rule, completely drain and clean the reservoir every 250 hours, or more frequently if used in dirty environments.
Unscrew the 13 bolts holding the cover plate to the reservoir and lift the pump unit out of the reservoir. Be careful not to damage the filter screen.
Pour all oil out of the reservoir.
Thoroughly clean the reservoir and reservoir magnet with a suitable cleaning agent.
Remove the pick-up filter screen for cleaning. (Do not pull on the screen or the bottom of the intake to avoid possible damage.) Clean the screen with solvent and a soft brush. Reinstall.
Reassemble the pump and reservoir, installing a new reservoir gasket.
Fill the reservoir with clean, approved hydraulic oil. The reservoir is full when oil level is in middle of the sight gauge.
A return line filter may be ordered as an accessory to the pump. The filter element should be replaced every 250 hours, or more frequently in dirty environments. The filter manifold is equipped with a 25 psi (1.7 bar) bypass to prevent over pressure rupture if filter plugging occurs. The Enerpac filter element replacement part number is PF25.
When the pump is run for long periods of time, ice may form
