Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Attach a suitable lifting device to the engine oil cooler. The engine oil cooler weighs approximately 83 kg (183 lb).

Remove one bolt and clip (1).
Remove clamp (2) from cup (3).
Remove one bolt and clip (4).
Remove eight bolts (7) and two bolts (6).
Remove tube and adapter assembly (5).

Remove four bolts (8), and two bolts (10).
Remove clip (9) and remove tube assembly (11).

Remove four bolts (12) and remove tube assembly (13).

Remove three bolts (16), and remove four bolts (14).
Remove housing and adapter (15).
Remove tube (17).

Remove four bolts (18) and two bolts and retainer (22).
Remove elbow (21).
Remove four bolts (19) and two bolts (20).
Remove engine oil cooler tube assembly (17).
