Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Inspect all of the components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

Install cap (17) and bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 370 50 N m (273 37 lb ft).
Measure the vertical inside diameter between cap (17) and the frame. Record this measurement as Dimension (A).
Measure the outside diameter of bar (19) on the side of the fuel tank. Record this measurement as Dimension (B).
In order to determine the desired thickness of shims (18), subtract Dimension (B) from Dimension (A). Assemble a number of shims in order to achieve a tolerance of 0.00 to −0.12 mm (0.00 to −0.005 inch). Record the required thickness of shims (18) after the fuel tank is positioned on the truck frame. Note: Do not install shims (18) at this time.
Remove bolts (16) and cap (17).
Repeat Step 2 through Step 6 for the other side of fuel tank (9).

Use a suitable lifting device in order to position fuel tank (11). The weight of fuel tank (11) is approximately 871 kg (1920 lb).

Install shims (18) and cap (17). Install bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 370 50 N m (273 37 lb ft).
Repeat Step 9 for the opposite side of the fuel tank.

Install mountings (15) and mountings (14). Install washers (13) and bolts (12).

Connect hose assembly (10).

Pull harness assembly (8) into guard (9). Connect harness assembly (8).

Install guard (7) and install bolts (6).

Position service center (5) and install bolts (4).

Connect hose assemblies (2). Turn fuel supply valve (1) to the ON position.
Fill the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities - Refill". Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime". End By:
Disconnect the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
