Removal Procedure
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with the bare hand.Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Use the drain valve. The radiator contains 5.7 L (1.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the proper procedure.

Remove bolts (1). Remove cover (2) .

Remove bolts (3). Remove housing (4) .

Remove filter (5).
Remove heater hoses (6) .

Disconnect harness assembly (9) .
Remove bolts (7). Remove heater coil (8) and blower (10) .
Separate the heater coil (8) from blower (10) .Installation Procedure

Connect heater coil (8) and blower (10).
Install heater coil (8) and blower (10) into position.
Install bolts (7) that secure the heater coil and the blower.
Connect the harness assembly (9) .

Install heater hoses (6) .
Install filter (5) .

Install housing (4). Secure housing (4) with bolts (3) .

Install cover (2). Secure cover (2) with bolts (1) .
Fill the radiator. The radiator contains 5.7 L (1.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the proper procedure.
