Duty Cycles for ACJ Thumbwheels When Used For Grade Control
0 - 5% Shorted Low
5 - 20% No Command
20 - 45% Decrement
45 - 55% Center Position - No Command
55 - 95% Increment
95 - 100% Shorted High/Open Circuit Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR POWER SUPPLIES
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
At the J1 harness connector for the right ACJ, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the +8V power supply contact J1-44 (wire 709-OR(Orange)) and along ground contact J1-45 (wire A295-BK(Black)). Do not disconnect the machine harness from the J1 connector.
Measure the DC voltage of the sensor power supply.
At the harness connector for the right ACJ, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the +8V power supply contact J1-1 (wire 709-OR(Orange)) and along ground contact J1-2 (wire A295-BK(Black)). Do not disconnect the machine harness from the J1 connector.
Measure the DC voltage of the sensor power supply.Expected Result:Each voltage measurement is approximately 8.0 0.4 VDC.Results:
OK - Each voltage measurement is approximately 8.0 0.4 VDC. The power supplies for the sensor are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or both of the voltage measurements are less than 8.0 0.4 VDC. The power supplies for the sensor are not correct.Repair: Either one or both of the ground wires of the sensor circuit or one or both of the sensor supply circuits are an open connection or a poor connection.Refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine. Examine all the connectors that are in the circuits. Ensure that the connections are clean, that the connections are secure, and that the connections are in good condition. For troubleshooting one or both of the separate ECM power supplies that provide power to the sensor, refer to the CID 0041 diagnostic code procedures in the troubleshooting section of the manual for the Transmission/Chassis ECM or the Implement ECM.Repair the faulty power supply circuit before proceeding with this procedure.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL AT THE SENSORThe key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the OFF position.
Inspect all the harness connectors for the ACJ and the ECM. Clean the contacts of the harness connectors and check the wires for damage to the insulation. Reconnect all harness connectors. Make sure that the connectors are fully seated. Observe that the clips for each connector are fastened.
At the machine harness connector J2 for the right ACJ, use a 151-6320 Removal Tool to remove the signal wire T979-YL(Yellow)and socket at contact J1-3 from the harness connector. The machine harness connector J2 remains connected to the right connector of the ACJ.
At the back of the ACJ connectors J1 and J2, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the sensor signal contact J1-3 and the ground contact at J1-2.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Measure the duty cycle of the sensor between the connector contacts of the ACJ J1-2 and J1-3. Rotate the ACJ through the full range of the sensor that is
