Eliminate the crack by gouging.Note: Bevel angle (H) of the gouge is more than 60 degrees.
Measure the gouged groove depth of the ring (K). If the gouge is more than 4 mm (0.16 inch), a repair cannot be made. In this case, replace the carbody.

Weld the gouged groove with enough penetration to each plate. Add the welding layer to outer green lines of Illustration 8 that are directed to be reworked in Step 1. Refer to Illustrations 10through 12for the weld size.Note: For each weld pass, slag shall be removed from all completed welds by using shot peening. The adjacent base metal shall be cleaned by brushing or other suitable means.

Available thread holes should be reused. Keep the surface flat (T) on top of the carbody top plate (U). Make counter bore for each thread hole with keeping the original hole center.

Make re-tapping with keeping the hole center.Note: Re-tapping thread must meet to M30X 3.5-6H. It's not necessary to meet to M30X 3.5-6H in remaining thread area before rework.
Repeat Step 4 through Step 6 for the remaining bolt holes.
Install the swing bearing with seventy-four 532-8316 Bolt. Apply anti-seize (Henkel Loctite C5-A or Loctite 8008) on the bolt threads. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 800 50 N m (590 37 lb ft) and then rotate the bolts by 90 5 degrees clockwise in addition.
Loosen one 532-8316 Bolt and pull it out by about 1.0 mm (0.04 inch). Re-tighten the bolt to a torque of 800 50 N m (590 37 lb ft) and then rotate the bolts by 90 5 degrees clockwise in addition.
Repeat Step 9 for remaining 532-8316 Bolt.
Install the upper structure on the installed swing bearing.
