Engine Oil Level
Check the engine oil level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for details. If necessary, add engine oil to the engine. Inspect the lubrication system for leaks.Electrical Power to the Prelube Pump Motor
Ensure that the prelube pump motor is wired correctly.Connect Cat ET to the service tool connector. Check for active diagnostic codes and logged diagnostic codes that are related to the prelubrication pump. Troubleshoot any codes that are active or logged before continuing. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Prelubrication - Test" for information that is related to the pump circuit.Inadequate Prelubrication Pressure
Use Cat ET to monitor the engine oil pressure that is after the oil filter during the prelube cycle. The ECM must detect an oil pressure of 45 kPa (6.5 psi) before the engine is cranked. If the pump fails to build the correct pressure for the programmed duration during the cycle, there may be a problem with the prelube pump. Repair the pump or replace the pump.
