C 8T-5096 Dial Indicator Gp 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the components. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove cover (1) and the gasket.

Remove bolts (2). Install two of bolts (2) in the holes that are indicated in Illustration 2 to remove pump drive (3). Remove the shims. Installation Procedure
Install pump drive (3) in the reverse order.
Apply Tooling (A) to the mating surface of the torque converter housing and pump drive (3).
Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (2).

Use Tooling (C) to check the backlash. The backlash should be 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) to 0.23 mm (0.009 inch). Note: Add or remove shims as shims are required to adjust the backlash.Disassembly Procedure

Drive pin (4) into pin (5). Slide pin (5) and gear assembly (1) aside in order to access retaining ring (3). Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (3). Remove gear assembly (1).
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (2). Remove pin (5). Remove pin (4) from pin (5).

Remove bearing (6). Note: Bearing (6) will be destroyed on removal.
Use Tooling (B) in order to remove retaining ring (7) from gear (8).
Remove spacer (9). Use a suitable press in order to remove bearing (10). Assembly Procedure

B 1P-1861 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Use Tooling (B) in order to install retaining ring (7). Lower the temperature of bearings (6) and (10). Install bearing (10) and washer (9). Install bearing (6).
