Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(1) Lubricate the nut with Tooling (F). Tighten the nut to a torque of 600 130 N m (443 96 lb ft). (2) Lubricate the sealing lips with the lubricant that is being sealed. (3) Apply Tooling (G) to the wiper seal groove prior to assembly.Installation Procedure

Lower the temperature of bearing (11). Use Tooling (B) in order to center bearing (11) in the bore. Use Tooling (C) to install new lip seals (11) .

Fasten a suitable lifting device onto tilt cylinder (3). Put the head end of tilt cylinder (3) in the original location in the lifting arms. Install pin assembly (9). Install bolt (10) .

Install plate (8). Install bolt (7) .
Install hose assembly (6) .

Align the rod end of tilt cylinder (3) with the tilt lever. Install pin assembly (5). Install bolt (4) .
Install hose assembly (2) and clamps (1) .
Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the other side.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
