The part numbers, descriptions, and functions of several service tools for 3600 Engines are listed in Table 1 through Table 7.For instructions on the use of the tools, literature is included with many of the tools. The engines' Service Manual also have instructions for the use of many of the tools.Some of the tools that are listed must be used in conjunction with other tools. For more detailed descriptions of the tools and the use of the tools, see the following publications:

1 4C-3654 Piston Ring Groove Gauge The gauge is used for checking the wear of piston ring grooves in order to determine the reusability of the piston.
1 4C-4706 Valve Seat Grinder The grinder is for reconditioning valve seats.
1 4C-9047 Coolant Strainer The strainer prevents debris from entering the engine cooling system during start-up after an overhaul.
1 229-3639 Overhaul Protection Kit The kit covers fuel lines, openings, and crankshaft journals.
1 4C-9528 Hydraulic Tensioning Tool (Cylinder Head) The tool supports the four hydraulic cylinders that are used for tensioning the cylinder head.
All four cylinders can be moved as a unit.
1 4P-3138 Turbocharger Oil Strainer The strainer helps to prevent debris from entering the turbocharger.
1 3S-6224 Electric Hydraulic Pump (115 Volt 50/50 Hz) The pumps provide an electro-hydraulic source of power for electro-hydraulic service tools.

1 8T-9209 Turbocharger Blocking Tool The tool prevents rotation of the turbocharger impeller. The tool enables engine operation at reduced power in an emergency situation.
1 9U-5102 Main Bearing Protection Cover The cover protects the journals of the crankshaft bearing during removal, installation, and transportation.
1 9U-6249 Cylinder Tool Group The tools are used for disassembling and assembling turbochargers.
