651B, 657B TractorsDescription of Change: A new plate assembly is used on the fuel tank as a support for the air cleaner of 641B, 651B, and 657B Tractors. The new plate assembly is thinner than the former plate assembly, but has a larger area. The new plate is welded to the front of the tank at locations across the top and bottom edges in addition to the sides, and around two openings in the plate. The larger area and increased number of welds gives a better distribution of stresses to prevent cracks in the welds.Adaptable As: The new 6G5428 Plate Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 2G3071 Plate Assembly, which is canceled. The part number of the 2G5824 Fuel Tank Assembly did not change. The later fuel tank assembly with the new plate assembly is used on 641B Tractors 65K1164-Up, 651B Tractors 67K952-Up, and 657B Tractors 68K1240-Up, and is directly adaptable to all earlier machines.
