STRIKER AS 3623498 - Caterpillar

Start By:
Remove the center drive shaft.
Remove the hitch drive shaft.
Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels. Raise the dump body and install the body prop.
Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels. Raise the dump body and install the body prop.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1), (5), (6), and (7) from the right side of the machine. Disconnect harness assembly (4). Remove nut (3) and position hose assembly (2) out of the way.

Disconnect hose assemblies (8), (9), and (10) from the left side of the machine.

Remove clamp (11) and deflector (12).

Place Tooling (A) under the rear frame on each side of the machine.

Attach Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to the front of the machine. Attach a suitable lift truck to the front of the machine. Use the suitable lifting device and the suitable lift truck in order to support the front of the machine.

Remove bolts (15) in order to remove locking plate (16) from thrust flange (13) and bearing carrier (14).
Invert locking plate (16) and position the dowel on locking plate (16) into thrust flange (13). Insert a suitable 3/4 inch breaker bar into locking plate (16). Turn thrust flange (13) counterclockwise and remove thrust flange (13) from bearing carrier (18).

Remove bolt (17) and washer (18). Remove yoke (19) and the O-ring seal from bearing carrier (20).

Remove bolts (21) and disconnect bearing carrier (14) from the hitch tube. Use Tooling (D) in order to separate bearing carrier (14) from the hitch tube.
Attach Tooling (E) and a suitable lifting device to bearing carrier (14). The weight of bearing carrier (14) is approximately 56 kg (123 lb). Remove bearing carrier (14).

Use the suitable lift truck and a suitable lifting device in order to separate the front of the machine.
