The 282-6871 Carrier As has been replaced by the 276-7299 Planetary Carrier as part of a lubrication system improvement for the TH48-E80 Petroleum Transmission.The changes associated with the new lubrication system are removing the passage within the carrier that sprayed oil on the Sun gear and redirecting oil through holes in the new 311-7389 Sun Gear .The 282-6871 Carrier As can be converted for reuse with the new system per the instruction below:
Locate the scribed part number on 276-7292 Planetary Carrier
Place the disassembled carrier with the flange facing up.
Locate the two radial drilled sun gear lube holes in the bore of the carrier.
Locate the 9.5 mm (0.37 inch) axial drilled hole that intersects the two radial drilled sun gear lube holes.
Ream the 9.5 mm (0.37 inch) axial drilled hole to a diameter of 10.973 mm 0.025 mm (0.43 inch 0.001 inch) and a minimum depth of 7.5 mm (0.30 inch).
Install a 4B-9783 Ball plug in the reamed hole, flush with the carrier surface.
Scribe the new carrier assembly part number 276-7299 Planetary Carrier to indicate that the update has been completed.
