Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
Reports indicate that the screen on control port is separating from the solenoid valve.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of the problem and is working on a permanent correction action. For the interim repair, replace the solenoid with same part number after performing the following rework procedure.The part number of the solenoid valve is listed in Table 1.

Remove the screen furthest away from the threads as shown in Illustration 1.

Pinch screen on opposite sides to lift edge off the valve. Refer to Illustration 2.

Hold screen away from valve with a clean pick. Refer to Illustration 3.Note: Ensure not to scratch surfaces.

Align thin, sharp, clean wire cutters under the screen.Note: Ensure not to scratch surfaces.

Use a smooth cutting motion to cut as straight as possible along the length of screen.Note: To avoid contamination, avoid cutting in a short or jagged manner and avoid nibbles.

Inspect area around the screen location, including the seals. Look for wire particles from the screen. if wire found, remove gently with fingers or rinse with oil.

Inspect cut edge on screen for missing particles that have not been accounted.The permanent repair will be to release a version of the valve without the screen on the control port.
