Removal and installation of the spark plug
(1) Spark plug
(2) O-ring seal Use the 2P-5481 Deep Well Socket for removal and installation of the spark plug (1). The voltage that is required to create a spark during engine operation varies as the condition of the spark plug and engine load changes. If the spark plug gap is too great, the voltage that is required to create a spark is increased. Ensure that the spark plugs have the correct gap.During installation of the spark plug, ensure that O-ring (2) is in good repair.Use the 9U-6695 Spark Plug Firing Indicator Gp as an aid for determining ignition problems. Refer to the instructions that are included with the tool.Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for instructions on removal, inspection, and installation of the spark plugs.

Spark plug adapter
(1) Adapter
(2) Gasket
(3) O-ring seal Use the 1F-0479 Wrench for removal and installation of spark plug adapter (3). When you install the adapter, ensure that gasket (4) is in place. Apply liquid soap to O-ring seal (5) and the bore for the seal in the cylinder head. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the adapter and on the threads in the cylinder head. Tighten the adapter to the correct torque value.
