Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.

Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Use throttle switch (3) to operate the engine in low idle.
Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.

Unhook latch (5) on each side of the machine and open engine hood (6).

Install a piece of reflective tape from Tool (A) on fan blade (7).Note: Remove any other existing tape from the fan blade or the fan hub. More than one piece of tape will cause inaccurate readings.Test Procedure
Move engine start switch (4) to the START position. Release start switch (4) when the engine starts.
Operate the engine in low idle for a few minutes. Use throttle switch (3) to operate the engine at high idle. Engine speed should be 3000 RPM.
Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (B). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches a minimum of 50° C (122° F).
Read fan speed on Tool (A). The minimum fan speed should be 2900 100 RPM.
Use throttle decrease switch (3) to operate the engine in low idle.
Move engine start switch (4) to the OFF position.
Remove reflective tape from fan blade (7).
Close engine hood (6) and secure latches (5).
