Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the steering frame lock.
Remove the cooling package.
Remove the main drive shaft.
Remove the front drive shaft.
Remove the hitch drive shaft.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Drain the oil from output transfer gear. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual,, "Transfer Gear- Oil Change" for the correct procedure.

Disconnect hose clamps (1).

Remove tie strap (2) and disconnect hose clamp (3).

Disconnect hose assembly (4).

Disconnect hose assemblies (7), (8), and (9).

Disconnect harness assemblies (10).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to output transfer gear (14). the weight of output transfer gear (14) is approximately 315 kg (700 lb).
Remove bolt (11).
Remove bolts (13) and mount assembly (12).

Remove bolts (15) and loosen bolt (16).

Remove bolts (17) and loosen bolt (18). Remove output transfer gear (14). Installation Procedures
Install output transfer gear (14 ) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten bolts (17) to a torque of 270 40 N m (200 20 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 270 40 N m (200 30 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 105 20 N m (78 15 lb ft).
