Transmission Oil Cooler SystemEngine coolant from the water pump flows to oil coolers (3). The coolant flows through long tubes inside the oil coolers. The coolant then flows out of the oil coolers to the engine cylinder block.Transmission oil with high temperatures and torque converter oil with high temperatures flows from torque converter outlet (4) to the oil cooler system. This oil flows parallel through two sets of oil coolers. Two-thirds of the oil flows to the pair of water to oil coolers (3) that are mounted on the lower left hand side of the engine. Inside these coolers, heat is removed from the oil and the heat is transferred to the engine coolant in the tubes. The engine coolant is then cooled by the cooling system of the engine.One-third of the oil from the torque converter outlet will flow to the pair of air to oil coolers (1) that are mounted on the top of radiator (2) at the rear of the machine. Each air to oil cooler (1) receives half of this oil flow. Cool outside air is drawn across the tubes inside these coolers that are carrying the hot transmission oil. The heat from this oil is removed from the oil and the heat is transferred to the outside air.After the oil flows through the two pairs of oil coolers, the oil flows out of the oil coolers through the oil cooler outlets. This oil has a lower temperature than the inlet oil. The oil now flows through line (5) in order to lubricate the planetary group.
