Generator Set EnginesDescription of Change: Two new camshaft assemblies are available for the above engines. The new camshaft assemblies have improved dynamic characteristics to increase valve train life. One of the new camshaft assemblies is used in the industrial and generator set engines. The other new camshaft assembly is used in the marine engines. The new camshaft assembly for the marine engines raises the effective compression ratio, in order to reduce white smoke levels.
Adaptable To: The new 124-0453 Camshaft Assembly replaces the former 9N-3598 Camshaft Assembly. The new 124-0453 Camshaft Assembly is also serviced with two different camshaft gears already installed under different part numbers: * The 125-8484 Camshaft Assembly comes with the 119-6774 Drive Camshaft Gear Assembly (high contact ratio) already installed on the 124-0453 Camshaft Assembly.* The 125-8139 Camshaft Assembly comes with the 7E-6097 Drive Camshaft Gear Assembly (low contact ratio) already installed on the 124-0453 Camshaft Assembly.The 125-8132 Early Inlet Valve Closing (EIVC) Camshaft Assembly replaces the former 9N-3598 Camshaft Assembly. The change affects the 425HP and 435HP, 3208 Direct Injection Turbocharged Aftercooled (DITA), Separate Circuit Aftercooled (SCAC) marine engines.
* The 125-8131 EIVC Camshaft Assembly comes with the 119-6774 Drive Camshaft Gear Assembly (high contact ratio) already installed on the 125-8132 EIVC Camshaft Assembly. The 125-8132 EIVC Camshaft Assembly also replaces the former 7E-8658 Exhaust Housing Group on the above marine engines.
