IF INSTALLING SPECIAL APPLICATION DRIVERS -
1. Prepare the tractor for removal of the existing drivers according to the instructions for belt removal in the Service Manual D&A.2. Remove the existing drivers, tent guards and fasteners.3. Install the special application drive wheels (SADW) as shown in Illustration 1.a. If the tractor has back up rings on the driver they must be reused. This insures that the bolts will have the proper thread engagement.b. Assembly Note: Insert the belt guides into the groove in the special driver before the belt is placed over the idler. The special driver weighs 1200 pounds (545 kg). Using Special Tool 1437145 will facilitate the removal and installation of the SADW. Use this tool with "C" hook 1426893.Otherwise, the SADW can be installed with a fork lift.4. Before installation on the tractor, the 1331678 tent guards must be reworked as shown in Illustration 3.5. Install the heavy duty tent guards.a. For machines with sealed and lubed undercarriage. Install the parts indicated in Illustration 1 and Table 1. Adjust the stinger plate (1454235) and scrapers (1510954 and 1544865) as shown in Illustration 1, SECTION A-A.b. For machines with greased undercarriage. Install the guard assembly (1331678) with spacers (6I9782) and longer bolts (7X0326) as shown in Illustration 2 and Table 1. This insures that the stinger will be at the correct height related to the special driver. All other parts should be installed as shown in Illustration 1 and Table 1. Adjust the stinger plate (1454235) and scrapers (1510954 and 1544865) as shown in Illustration 2, SECTION B-B. Accumulation of soil on the driving surface of the SADW can cause damage to the inside surface of the belt. The scrapers installed with this rework will prevent the build-up of soil on the SADW when properly adjusted. Therefore, it is important that owners of Challengers with SADW's are instructed to maintain the adjustment of these scrapers. Scrapers should be checked every 10 hours or daily and adjusted (as shown in Illustration 1 or 2) when necessary.

Install the 60 degree chevron drivers as shown in Illustration 4. Note that the chevron pattern on the drivers should line up with the belt grouser pattern. If the tractor has backup rings on the drivers they must be reused. This insures that the bolts will have the proper thread engagement.
