Place a suitable container under drain valve (1) for the secondary fuel filter. Open drain valve (1). The drain valve is on the right of the secondary fuel filter.
Push down on the plunger for the fuel priming pump (2). Release the plunger for the fuel priming pump in order to operate the fuel priming pump. Operate the plunger for the fuel priming pump (2) in order to fill the new filter element. Continue to prime the fuel system until a steady flow of fuel comes out of drain valve (1). Close drain valve (1) of the secondary fuel filter.
Use ten strokes to pump the fuel system priming pump. When you feel resistance in the system, the fuel system is primed.
Start the engine. If the engine will not start, further priming is required. If the engine starts and the engine continues to misfire, further priming is required. If the engine starts and the engine continues to emit smoke, further priming is necessary.
If the engine starts and the engine runs rough, continue to run the engine at low idle. Continue to run the engine at low idle. The engine must run in a smooth manner. If all of the other work is completed, you should close the hood for the engine.
