ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the REHS8146, Special Instruction, "Muffler Mounting Bracket Rework Procedure for Certain 306E, 307E, and 308E Mini Hydraulic Excavators", in order to rework the muffler assembly bracket paintwork and the cracked weld repair.
Dealer is advised to perform Before Failure Rework as this will minimized the repair work time and the inconveniences causes to the end user.
For Before Failure Rework, it will required only:
A) Detailed inspection of the welded joint area between the muffler assembly and turbocharger exhaust pipe. Refer to Image1.
B) Removal of paint at the muffler bracket contacting surfaces.
C) Replacement and retightening of the muffler assembly bracket bolts.
For After Failure Rework, it will require:
A) Detailed inspection of the welded joint area between the muffler assembly and turbocharger exhaust pipe. Refer Image1.
B) Replacement of the complete muffler assembly if the welded joint has cracked completely. Otherwise, repair of the the cracked weld accordingly.
C) Removal of the paint at the muffler bracket contacting surfaces.
D) Replacement and retightening of the muffler assembly bracket bolts.
